On January 5, 2021, Huami, the wearable equipment brand of Xiaomi Group, released the 2020 Chinese Health report.
According to the report, due to the impact of the epidemic, the average number of daily walking steps of Chinese people in 2020 was 22% less than that of the previous year, to only 5927.
The report is based on data from over-14-year-old users of Huami, one of the partners of Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi, which has about 25% of the market share of wearable devices in China. Miband, which is famous for its low price, is also a product of the company.
In Huami’s dashboard, PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) is usually used to measure the level of activity of users over the past seven days. Therefore, the PAI trend of Chinese people in 2020 is also given in this report:
83.4% of users’ PAI has remained below 30 in the past year, which is a very low number. According to the official introduction of this number by the PAI Health, it proves that a person has a completely healthy lifestyle when it stays above 100. Of all Huami users, only 2% did so.
Sleep distress is another problem reflected in the report. In intergenerational analysis, people born before the 1980s slept an average of 7:22, while those born before the 1980s slept an average of 7:08. The rest did not get more than seven hours of average daily sleep.
The report also points out that 36% of women and 28% of men were dissatisfied with their bodies, which inspired more men to train, and 46% of male users trained more than three times a week. But this doesn’t seem to make a significant difference, because 62% of male users and 46% of female users get a “Normal weight” rating, according to BMI.
