Latest report: nearly 90 million Chinese use fitness App, 93% Chinese think fitness is very important

August 8th is China’s National Fitness Day, on this year, China’s fitness App Keep released the National Sports Health Trends report (hereinafter referred to as the report). Fitness has become a new lifestyle for Chinese people according to the report. 93% of respondents consider fitness as important while China’s fitness App has 89.28 million monthly active users.

As of December 2019, China had 316.2 million sports sites (including ordinary stadiums, swimming pools, tennis courts, ski resorts, archery fields), according to the report. But most people prefer to use a fitness App at home for fitness purposes due to the impact of the epidemic. Fitness App has reached 89.28 million monthly active users this year, twice as much as last year. Keep, who participated in this report, grew to 6.13 million in DAU during the first half of 2009.

In the national city ranking, Beijing is the favorite city for fitness, followed by Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xi’an and Nanjing.

There are totally different sports preferences among different populations. For students groups they prefer physical fitness activities without equipment, skipping rope, or gymnastics. For white-collar workers, the first choice is the gym. 54% of elderly people exercise at least three times a week and exercise frequency is significantly higher than younger ones.

Smart devices are also popular among Chinese fitness groups, 48% of sports enthusiasts have intelligent weighing scales, 37% of sports enthusiasts have smart bracelets. The report also indicates that 70% of people share their sports records or outcomes after exercise to social networks, 16% of whom share each record.

Besides, the concept of “thirty percent dependent on exercise, seventy percent dependent on diet” in China is deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of people. Many fitness enthusiasts eat meal replacements after exercising to reduce caloric intake or increase protein intake.

This report was launched by the popular fitness App Keep in China. The company is a star startup company in China. Apple CEO Cook visited this company when he visited China. You can download it here in the original text (Chinese).
