Arctic Ocean Soda, a time-honored Chinese soda brand, has just launched 13 new drinks.

Thirteen new drinks were unveiled at the Arctic Ocean Soda’s 85th anniversary launch event in Beijing on November 27, including 4 hot winter drinks.

Among the 13 drinks, there are four hot drinks in cans. They are goji berry – orange, longan – goji berry, walnut, and barley. All of these flavors use ingredients that are considered “health food” in the traditional Chinese medicine system. This caters to current consumer trends in China. It’s also the first time the brand has introduced a non-soda drink.

In addition, it has introduced three new low-sugar sodas. They are grape, taurine, and raspberry. After the rise of Zero-sugar beverage giant Genki Forest in China, diet soda is now very popular among young people.

The other new product is the 85th anniversary limited edition of its classic Orange soda.

The Arctic Ocean was formerly known as  Peiping Ice Factory, which was founded in 1936. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it changed its name to Arctic Ocean Soda and became the most popular drink for many children in northern China. We wrote an article about the company’s demise after it was acquired by PepsiCo in 1994. In 2011, the brand was recalled by a Chinese company and returned to the market.

Over the next nine years, it introduced few new products, other than reviving the orange-flavored soda that had disappeared.

The launch seemed to signal that it was no longer satisfied as a revived relic, but was trying to reach new consumers.
