Despite the controversy in China, Genshin Impact has become the most successful outbreak of Chinese games in the global market.
According to Sensor Tower, the game has earned more than $245 million for its developer miHoYo in the past 30 days, surpassing Tencent’s most successful mobile games Arena of Valor and PUBG Mobile. This does not even include the game’s revenue on PC and PS4.
Although most players are currently focusing on the big update of the Genshin will launch on November 11, miHoYo has recently released the latest moves of its other game series, Honkai Impact, in the Chinese market.
On November 1, Honkai Impact 4th: Galaxy‘s official account appeared on Weibo, which was certified by an enterprise and operated by a Shanghai company of miHoYo. So far, it hasn’t posted any posts or even a game-related avatar.
Chinese players’ attention to the game began in June this year. At that time, some players found that miHoYo had registered the trademark of Honkai Impact 4th. This means that the game should have entered the stage of physical development.
Honkai Impact is miHoYo’s first game series, and it has released three generations of products so far. Unlike Genshin Impact, the first three generations of Honkai Impact are not open-world games. It is a nijigen Gacha mobile game with simple action elements. Even if it is not as well-known as Genshin Impact, it has done well in China and overseas markets.
According to previous reports, miHoYo invested $100 million and three years to develop Genshin Impact. If miHoYo plans to turn Honkai Impact 4th into an open-world game similar to Genshin Impact, that means it seems a long way from being actually released. But there is no evidence that this is going to happen.
This is both good news and bad news for loyal fans of Honkai Impact.
